Hotels & Lodging

Good news!  There is a little hotel right on the airport, walking distance to our gathering area,  and it is inexpensive.  Okay, it's a little worn and the room colors seem a little odd, but Sandy and I stayed there last year and it was fine.  There is also a swimming pool and a nice little patio area right off of Runway 11.

We all stayed there last year and as far as being convenient and inexpensive you can't beat it.

This place isn't part of a chain but they do have have a web site.  Call them directly and tell them you are part of the September airport fly-in.

Added 9-3-2012: On another note, Sandy & I stopped by the Marion Airport Inn this afternoon to make our reservation.  We were surprised to find he charged us $59.99 instead of the $39.99 we were originally quoted.  We got conflicting stories on our two visits, but according to the guy (owner?) we talked to today, if you reserve your room, it's $59.99. But, if you walk in the door without a reservation, and you are one of the lucky first 10 for the day, AND you hand them this coupon you might get the room for $39.99.

This really pissed me off, since the first guy I talked to indicated we would be getting our rooms at the lower rate. Having said that, this hotel's parking lot is usually empty and I would be shocked if they got 10 walk-ins a day, so you could cancel your reservation now and take your chances as walk-in when you arrive.  Also, we stayed there last year, and it was clean and tidy.  New management this year.

I apologize to all of you.  We canceled our reservation cause I was so mad and it's not a big deal for Sandy & me since we only live about 17 miles from KMWA. If you want a shot at another hotel in the area, you can start here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g36322-Marion_Illinois-Hotels.html
Be sure and read reviews before booking.

Wherever you decide to stay, we will make sure you have a ride back and forth to the airport.

Now, if you want to spend a little more money and get a regular chain type hotel, there are plenty in the area.  Check here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g36322-Marion_Illinois-Hotels.html

If you have an RV you may park at the airport.

If you want to pitch a tent, I have approval from the airport manager.  Just keep in mind that there are no camping amenities - in other words, you get a patch of grass.  With a little luck, we'll get you a shower in the corporate hangar.
